Buitenplaats Holten - Aan De Holterberg

Great place to enjoy a beautiful outdoor location within walking distance of Holterberg. Excellent price/fun ratio. Actually, we would prefer to give only 5 stars, but it is always a challenge to want to improve. New comfortable tiny house, with luxury and comfort in terms of sanitary facilities, kitchen and sauna. Also sufficient privacy. Nice service too, beds made without asking, package with coffee, soap and sauna infusion oil, etc. Although we as Frisians are not neighbors, a nice experience of Twente's neighborship.

House was fairly clean. However, the oven was dirty and there was a lot of dirt between the refrigerator and the oven door. There was also literally a puddle of grease on the extractor hood with 2 dead flies in it. I don't think people clean under the beds. House was also infested with flies even though it is mid-October? Think because of poor ventilation. We arrived with 10/15 degrees outside and the thermostat showed 32.5 degrees inside!? The beds were quite soft for our taste. Rooms are sufficiently spacious, nice bathroom and practical kitchen. House is nicely furnished, very VT living as you see everywhere nowadays and therefore not very special or personal. I don't think our thermostat was working properly either because when it was set to 17 degrees, we were welcomed back with 23.5 degrees inside. There was also a huge heating smell. It only became cooler when I set the Honeywell thermostat to 5 degrees and opened a window. Didn't get below 20 degrees even with windows open. Smell of heating remained. A bit strange. There is literally nothing in the park, but that was known, the location is okay, but you can hear traffic very well inside and especially outside from the N-road. It was not entirely clear to me why the house should be called 'Forest Lodge', there are hardly any trees in the park. A few hedges. Also nice are the houses with hot tubs that you can literally look into from the N-road when you drive past. The houses are nicely laid out and there is plenty of space around the house, including a nice veranda.

Stayed at this park for a few days, booked through... but this combination turned out not to be optimal, paid but received several payment reminders 😡 the park itself was reasonable, equipment was disappointing, so I fell through the bed (and no, it's not due to my weight... ) this was resolved quickly. My advice to the park owner that he demolish and clean up the various remains of old houses is not really a nice sight.

Spent a wonderful weekend in a wellness lodge. Clear information in advance about the key box. Upon arrival we found a spotlessly clean house. Small but cozy and fully equipped. Great relaxing couch and the bedroom/wellness was beautiful. A jacuzzi next to the lodge from which you have a view of the adjacent meadows. Another advantage of the jacuzzi was that it is constantly at the right temperature so that you can use it at any time. Beautiful surroundings of the Sallandse Heuvelrug and Deventer around the corner for nice walks and shopping. The park is small-scale without any fuss, but that is exactly what we are looking for!
